Bible Study is an app designed for those who want to develop a closer understanding of Christianity and the foundational text for Christian and Judaic religious sects. Various versions of the Bible are available, giving users from different churches plenty of reason to find this free app to be very valuable.

This app contains two versions of the Bible: the King James Version and the English Version. Books are downloaded directly to a user’s device, allowing them to access these Bibles and other associated content without an active Internet connection. Users can find the passage they want quickly with the app’s search function or 3-touch Verse Chooser. Users can download any of another 100 additional titles about Bible study, and also have access to an in-app store where they can purchase an additional 600 books on religious and Biblical subjects. Users can access Greek and Hebrew versions of Biblical texts as well. This app also includes a number of tools for personalizing their texts, including highlighters, bookmarks and sections where they can take notes.

Parents will love the reading and vocabulary learning skills kids will pick up after downloading Scholastic Storia to their Android devices. This app puts kids in touch with a ton of age-appropriate reading titles and includes other features meant to improve comprehension in students.
Users can use this app to access thousands of eBooks for children from toddler age to teens. Five free books can be downloaded through this app at first, although parents must pay for future titles through Scholastic. Children can find special Read-To-Me titles that include highlighted text, sound effects and music to make the reading experience more fun for younger readers. Other enriched titles include puzzles, word games, quizzes and author interviews. The Storia dictionary contains age-appropriate definitions for vocabulary words, including pictures. Parents can track a child’s reading habits through the app’s Reading Reports, which keeps count of how many books have been read or what puzzles have been completed.
This app, a winner of the Parent’s Choice Silver Honor Award and an Editor’s Choice Award from Children’s Technology Review, has been scored as a hit with parents. Many user reviews loved the easy interface that made using this app simple for children, although some were concerned that the books sold were a little expensive. User reviews for this program were mostly positive and indicated that this app succeeds at doing what it sets out to do. This app does provide access to thousands and thousands of books. It’s a little inconvenient that you have to a be a member of the library in order to take out digital eBooks or audiobooks. It also seems odd that digital files couldn’t be widely shared and would require a waiting list. But while this app has to abide by these rules, it does give you access to a much wider world beyond your own library. Often times, if a library knows that it has customers accessing digital texts, it will increase its inventory for a wider selection. Users can access dictionary resources in 11 different languages, including Spanish and French, and a number of specialty dictionaries for medical, legal and financial terms.
The Dictionary app is a great choice for anyone who works in professional fields that utilize a lot of heavy jargon. This app contains information culled from multiple English language dictionaries. Each word entry contains a definition, sentence usage, etymologies and a pronunciation guide. Many entries also contain audio files of pronunciations so a user can hear the word being used in regular speech.
Besides the dictionary reference material, this app also contains thesaurus information for identifying a word’s synonym, antonym and even related images. Along with the 11 different language-based dictionaries, users can translate most of these words into any of 40 different languages. Much of this information can be available in offline mode, although users must download the content to their device after installing the app.
Other features to this informational app include multiple encyclopedias that can be accessed for quick knowledge, including Columbia, Britannica and Wikipedia. Users can also play a number of word games to keep their language skills polished, including Hangman, Words within Words and Spelling Bee.
